MC Europe, the leading international symposium on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) in Europe, continues a long-standing tradition of independent, regularly held international EMC symposia organized across the continent. These include the Wroclaw Symposia (20 editions since 1972) and the Zurich Symposia (20 editions since 1973), as well as later European symposia held in Rome (since 1994), followed by Bruges, Sorrento, Eindhoven, Barcelona, and Hamburg. Each of these three symposium series was organised biennially.
The International Wroclaw Symposium on Electromagnetic Compatibility was the oldest European conference dedicated to EMC. From its inception, all meetings were held in Wroclaw, Poland, every even year. These symposia provided a unique forum for discussion and exchange of experience between researchers from Western and Eastern Europe, ultimately fostering the integration of the European scientific community.
In 2010, the EMC research community gathered in Wroclaw for the 20th time, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of EMC conferences in Europe. By then, genuine integration of European countries and the EMC research community had been achieved.
After 38 years, the Wroclaw Symposium had fulfilled its mission, and the three major international EMC conferences in Europe were merged into EMC Europe – the International Symposium and Exhibition on Electromagnetic Compatibility.
Since then, EMC Europe has been organised annually in European cities with strong EMC research centers, providing an international forum for the exchange of technical information on EMC.
The Joint EMC Europe Symposia have since been held in Wroclaw (2010, 2016), York (2011), Rome (2012, 2020 – virtual), Bruges (2013, 2024), Gothenburg (2014, 2022), Dresden (2015), Angers (2017), Amsterdam (2018), Barcelona (2019), Glasgow (2021 – virtual), Krakow (2023), Paris (2025), and Prague in 2026. The Dresden and Glasgow events were jointly organised with the IEEE International Symposium on EMC.
In 2027, you are warmly invited to contribute to and attend Europe’s largest conference dedicated to electromagnetic compatibility, hosted in Glasgow.
